Turmeric (Curcuma longa) is a rhizomatous herbaceous perennial plant of the ginger family, Zingiberaceae.It is native to Southeast Asia. It has been used in Asia for thousands of years and is a major part of Ayurveda, Siddha medicine, Unani, and traditional Chinese medicine. It was first used as a dye, and then later for its medicinal properties.

Turmeric is one of the key ingredients in many Asian dishes, imparting a mustard-like, earthy aroma and pungent, slightly bitter flavor to foods.Although typically used in its dried, powdered form, turmeric also is used fresh, like ginger.It is used widely as a spice in South Asian and Middle Eastern cooking.

In Ayurvedic and Siddha practices, turmeric has been used as an attempted treatment for a variety of internal disorders, such as indigestion, throat infections, common colds, or liver ailments, as well as topically, to cleanse wounds or treat skin sores.

In Eastern India, the plant is used as one of the nine components of navapatrika along with young plantain or banana plant, taro leaves, barley (jayanti), wood apple (bilva), pomegranate (darimba), asoka, manaka or manakochu, and rice paddy. The Navapatrika worship is an important part of Durga festival rituals.


Turmeric Contains Bioactive Compounds With Powerful Medicinal Properties.It has been used in India for thousands of years as a spice and medicinal herb.Recently, science has started to back up what the Indians have known for a long time… it really does contain compounds with medicinal properties.These compounds are called curcuminoids, the most important of which is curcumin.

Curcumin is the main active ingredient in turmeric. It has powerful anti-inflammatory effects and is a very strong antioxidant.However, the curcumin content of it is not that high… it’s around 3%, by weight.

To reduce active acne & acne marks apply raw turmeric paste regularly with face pack to see result.

For 1 cup 0f tea(250ml) boil  turmeric,ginger,curry leaves,1 pinch each of -cinnamon powder, green cardamom powder,clove powder,nutmeg powder,black peppercorn powder, then strain it & drink.You can also dip your green tea sachet into it,let it steep for sometime & then have it.I have been drinking this tea for around two months & i must say it did a great job for me. Initially I started to take this tea for weightloss.I can’t comment on the weight loss aspect much but must say it did improve my immunity a lot.It completely changed the way my body reacts to weather change.This is the first time in my life that i didn’t fall ill during this weather change time.Even my family members were surprised at this change.
